The ultra-Orthodox youth called the bar mitzvah boy a "Nazi"

Just when you thought they can't sink lower...

The son of a well-known ultra-Orthodox Knesset member (whose name was deleted from media reports after it was published, perhaps because the young bully is a minor) led a shocking display of behavior today at the "Ezrat Yisrael" plaza next to the Western Wall, intended for egalitarian prayers of the liberal Jewish denominations. We too will respect the law and the decision by our sources to delete the name and have deleted accordingly in our article. But in view of the young man's words and behavior it is clear that he was inspired and guided to commit these acts by the education he received at home, and it is not a rotten fruit that fell far from the tree. The boy's father is one of those leading attacks in the vilest language on the Bennett / Lapid government, on Reform and Conservative Judaism and on the Supreme Court.

The incident occurred during the Bar Mitzvah ceremony of an American youth and his family, which was led by Rabbi Arie Hasit from the Conservative Movement.

Ultra-orthodox youth, including minors, who came to demonstrate this morning against the monthly prayer of the Women of the Wall, also vandalized a Conservative movement prayer book. The prayerbook was torn to pieces by the provocateur, the son of a well-known ultra-Orthodox MK, according to the report by Ynet News. When asked about his actions, the boy claimed that there is a religious mitzvah to burn a Torah scroll written by infidels (referring to Reform and Conservative Jews). Another ultra-Orthodox person who took part in the demonstration chose to further provoke the worshipers by defiantly wiping his nose on a page torn from the prayer book.

A few of the ultra-Orthodox youth cursed the Bar Mitzva boy, and even called him “a Nazi”.

Observation of the son's disgraceful behavior undoubtedly shows quite a bit about his father, a well-known ultra-Orthodox MK, and his colleagues who claim pious and God-fearing conduct, but who are often responsible for despicable actions, and whose educational thrust is reflected in the ugly conduct of their youth as demonstrated today. Looking at the model provided by the father, suffice it to remember his recent public attack on Israel’s highest civil judiciary: “You know what my dream is? To bring a D9 [bulldozer] and blow up the building of the Supreme Court”.

A complaint was filed with the police. It is hard to believe that this time the police and the State Attorney's Office will act more resolutely than in past incidents, when women and egalitarian prayer groups were attacked and the Women of the Wall prayer books were vandalized, but it is hoped that the protest which most certainly will arise from the Diaspora as well as from Israel will be heard and the police will take protecting non-Orthodox worshippers and women’s minyanim more seriously.
